I echo the sentiment that Paul is an astute, empathetic pharmacist - and one I recommend highly. Unfortunately, their for hire retail-clerk-with-a-science-degree (working 25/01/18, and several other days recently) fancies himself as a doctor, asserting an authority and manner he is both unqualified and ill-equipped for. The prejudice and bias he applies contrasts in a blinding fashion, first via Customer-dress, second Customer-need.Update: Fortunately, the locum in question will no longer be tending to customers at Clifton Hill Pharmacy. Very pleasing to see the pharmacy act on several complaints, swiftly. Rating adjusted accordingly.
Paul the pharmacist is the only reason I shop here. He has a wealth of knowledge and picks up on doctors mistakes! The rude blonde lady who I presume is the owner is a horrible human being who shouldn't be working in retail especially not serving people who generally aren't feeling their best. I've witnessed her on more than one occasion verbally abusing staff (who are also just as rude and miserable as her) and absolutely demoralising them. She isn't much more pleasant to her customers. No eyecontact, no manners, zero customer service. Blonde lady alone makes me go to other pharmacies whenever possible (also, much, much cheaper) but if my children or myself are particularly unwell, I choose this pharmacy to see Paul for his expertise and care I know he has for my family but loathe every second I have to spend at the counter being served/scorned by blonde lady.
Efficient pharmacy servicing Clifton Hill. I've found one of the pharmacist to be less helpful than I would have expected. Stocks can be low on some medications and I found the pharmacy unhelpful in getting this medicine in.
The pharmacists both go out of their way to be condescending, rude and obstructive. When asking for an OTC medication, expect a Spanish Inquisition or an outright refusal with almost an insinuation you have a drug problem. Because of this pharmacists refusal to sell me paediatric phenergan (for a 15kg two and half year old child) when my son was clearly suffering hives and needed an antihistamine- and not Zyrtec which was useless, we ended up at the hospital later that night where surprise, surprise... they gave him Phenergan and he recovered. I made a complaint to the pharmacy board and I encourage anyone else who also feels like they're being denied adequate healthcare because if these Pharmacists attitudes, do the same. They both need to pull their heads in before everybody drives the extra 2km to Chemist Warehouse which is strongly advised.
I find visiting this chemist a demoralising experience. I feel as if I am of both lesser intelligence and human value when the pharmacists and retail assistants speak at me. It also feels as though I have entered a space wherein the inhabitants are impelled to exert power and control through the most petty means available. Whenever possible I prefer to go out of my way to shop elsewhere. It is worth noting that I did have a really positive interaction with a pharmacist who I woefully describe as a "young" Asian man. This man treated me with dignity and respect and I truly appreciated the service he provided. Unfortunately this latter experience is the exception not the rule.
